81 SRG co-productions presented at the Solothurn Film Festival

Swiss film in all its facets is the focus of the 58th edition of the Solothurn Film Festival, which runs from January 18 to 25. This year, the festival is once again showing numerous co-productions by SRG, which is also the main media partner. The works shown can also be seen on SRG channels and on the SRG streaming platform Play Suisse. An ideal opportunity to start the new year with good Swiss films.

Documentaries, feature films, animated films, short films and series: SRG invests around 50 million Swiss francs annually in independent Swiss filmmaking, including 32.5 million francs through the Pacte de l’audiovisuel. Within this framework, SRG has co-produced 81 of the 217 works that will be shown this year at the Solothurn Film Festival. With a program that gives plenty of space to central themes such as the fight for human rights, the climate or democracy, the 58th edition of the festival has its finger on the pulse.

Highlights include three SRG co-productions from three different language regions, which will be presented to the audience on Sunday, January 22:

Neumatt, Season 2 – SRF – World Premiere at 5:30 p.m. (Reithalle).

The family drama “Neumatt” is set in the tension between city and country. In the second season, in addition to the current challenges of modern agriculture, questions of food production and distribution are addressed. Neumatt” was produced by SRF and Zodiac Pictures Ltd. All episodes of the series will be available on Play Suisse from February 5. On television, the second season will run from February 5 at 8:05 p.m. on SRF 1 and from March 19 at 9:55 p.m. on RSI LA 1.

La Fraternité – RTS – World premiere at 9:15 a.m. (Palace).

Produced by RTS, Point Prod, Yuzu and Planète +, this documentary series looks at the tragic deaths of 74 people in Switzerland, Canada and France at the hands of the Order of the Solar Templars. 25 years after the events, the main protagonists – among them several followers of the Order and some of the few survivors – break their silence and tell the story as they experienced it. All episodes of the series will be available on Play Suisse from January 22. On television, it will be broadcast on February 8 and 15 on RTS 1.

La tentazione di esistere – RSI – first broadcast in theaters at 2:30 p.m. (concert hall).

The feature film, produced by RSI and Rough Cat, tells the story of Elvezio, a former teacher, who one day realizes that four million francs have been mistakenly transferred to his account. Instead of reporting the error to his bank, he withdraws the money and flees on his motorcycle. Livio, the upbeat and unconventional detective hired by the bank to retrieve the money, takes up the pursuit. The paths of the two finally cross on a lonely beach on the Adriatic Sea. The feature film is available on Play Suisse from February 9.

To mark the Solothurn Film Festival, a special “Solothurn Film Festival” collection is already available on the SRG streaming platform Play Suisse. It contains ten co-productions that were shown in previous editions of the festival.
