High Definition

A dozen years ago, I worked in the universe disenchanted (looks like another) a French audiovisual media. Regularly, once a year, my employer received a professional festival dedicated to "high definition" productions.

This high definition, at that time, it required huge specific equipment to save it: it was the beginning of digital video media, and those capable of recording speeds required for the HD were quite impressive laboratory prototypes. Remember that video compression does not exist, or at least was not used in this case here.

So it was for me, each year the opportunity to repeat that "the average viewer had nothing to do increase the quality and resolution, and that the important thing was the content of its programs".

There is that quine fools change no opinion… Since then, technologies have evolved: quality audiovisual references have increased with the emergence of digital technology and the web. The standard resolution of television, associated with an analog broadcast, is now too low for the size and quality of the current LCD screens, which easily exceed the meter of diagonal. On the other hand, increased the offer requires a less greedy mode of transmission bandwidth.

So, very quickly, we went from the terrestrial analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting (DVB – T or other). It gave some respite to the standard resolution, but the shift to HD is very fast: TNT – HD shows up, and the HD will be the standard very soon. For what is the media of public records, we went in a few years the analog VHS to digital HD Blu – Ray.

The technology is there, no more expensive than before, and necessary. So the syklop began recently. Equipped with HD recently, I don't know how I did before.

We'll talk later new gadgets arrived here…
