The adventure of a conversion of ETS in HES diploma. Episode 1

Side effect of a (successful) survey on the job market, I have the fad to convert my degree of ing. ETS diploma HES.

But why so?…

  • Because. Just to see.
  • Because casually, even if my degree is 13 years old, I had to explain at a job interview that the term "ETS" was the predecessor of "HES". In 10 years, no one will know what does ETS mean, at this rate there.
  • Because – the international recognition of ' diploma HES is better than that of an ETS.

On the site of the specialized high school of Western Switzerland, it is returned to the site of the federal Office for vocational training and technology. But the link is wrong. We find here on the site of the OPET pages about it.

By the way, we find some info about it on my old school ETS website, but which linke of the news that no longer exist.

Since the OPET, one is redirected on different sites, based on the degree of origin we have. For what interests me (ETS diploma), I find myself on the site of the Association Ridge graduates HES Switzerland. Phew. We're here.

So, on this site, finally the news that are going well:

About ETS engineers, the condition to get an equivalency HES is a professional experience of 5 years, either a post-graduate studies of high-school level. Until then, fine.

It is a bit complicated: A new law came into force in October 2005 sets new modalities of conversion. In particular, it defines the equivalence with the bachelor level set at European level. This is, I admit, I don't understand everything: read in this document:

The conversion of the securities of the schools is not limited in time. Securities acquired in this way cannot be converted into bachelor. People who have made use of the right of conversion of their title may 2009 complete their honours bachelor title.

You mean, what? If I convert my ETS in HES, I may or not have equivalence bachelor in 2009? Mystery and gumdrop. But it is not very important.

What do need me?[1]

  • Certificate of consistent ETS certified by a notary or an administrative service notes, accompanied by a copy or the original version of the graduate, accompanied by a copy or the copy of the certified diploma in line by a notary or an administrative service, along with a copy. Just like that? You're going to have to go to a notary? Ouaouw… And with the fees they charge, they are not able to make a copy themselves?…
  • The original version of certificates or statements of work, or a copy certified by a notary or an administrative service. Add a list of professional activities and indicate their respective duration in months – e.g.. 02/1995 – 06/2000 = a total of 65 months or the original version of a document certifying the attendance of a post-graduate studies at the University level. More complicated, they can do?
  • The receipt or its copy attesting the payment of fees for the processing of the file (and if applicable for the Diploma Supplement)

And how much will it cost me? Not counting costs of notary or recommended:

  • 100 Frs of fee, or 120 frs if I want besides a Diploma Supplement[2]
  • Frs 75 more if I physically want a degree.

Good bein… The application form is here. But I feel that I will not hurry…
