The International Commission for the protection of the waters of Lake Geneva publishes and offers a "Guide to the natural garden" online which gives many practical tips to replace pesticides by simple and natural methods.

A single gram of pesticide (active substance) makes it unfit for consumption 4 Olympic swimming pools (10'000 m3 of water), is the consumption of 50 households of 4 people for 1 year. This same gram, dumped in a stream of 1 m wide and 1 m deep, pollutes him on 10 km.
The chemicals are not the only solution. There are a multitude of good reflexes and methods to dispense with chemical pesticides.
