All this small world hosted on a U.S. hosting provider, until a few days ago: Hostgator has been my host for several years preferred. We can find a part of the saga of the reflections on the hosters here.
More than 5 years with the same host, so. And, little by little, the quality of service has deteriorated. With a peak in summer 2013, during the removal of their data center in Utah to improve their margins, letting me know just to a "Server Update"… Let's talk, this update: 2 weeks after a break in service of more of a day. Very ugly.
Not to mention the average response times from Europe (measured by Pingdom): 1500 ms at the beginning, and 2500 ms after change of data center. All accompanied by more frequent downtimes.
So a change of host was needed. For several reasons, for example because of the NSA, I was aiming for Europe. And I arrived at PlanetHoster.
A migration, it's complicated. Especially with sites a bit antiquated engines and a recent version of PHP. But after a few hours of hard work and support effective PlanetHoster, everything is here, and everything is stable!
Had a response time divided by two.
A small problem because some features of cPanel (the hosting PlanetHoster administration tool) returns me error messages. But, in defence of the host, I don't not reassembled them the problem.
