Inaugural travel aboard the Lausanne M2

It's done: last Thursday, after opening at 15 h, the M2 metro opened its doors to the public from 15:30 until Sunday evening. After, it will close its doors for a month, or more, history of debugging all that tweaking the final details.

The m2 (an automatic metro on tyres able to cross slopes up to 12%) is a technological challenge able to offer a perfect mobility solution ignoring topographic obstacles due to the steep slope to the Vaudois capital.

Connecting Ouchy (373 m) lakeside to Epalinges (711 m), m2 became the backbone of the transport of the settlement. The future metro will benefit in addition to a connection with the CFF and the main regional lines serving the whole of the canton.
