Quelbazar has tested a new range of vegan products for you

On a regular basis, Quelbazar is approached to test and highlight new products or services. Lately, we have had the "privilege" to be able to taste two new products of the Garden Gourmet range sold at the Coop.

The plant-based alternatives available until now did not always meet consumer expectations in terms of taste, texture and appearance. Nestlé scientists have therefore relied on consumer feedback to make the burger even juicier and enhance the typical flavour of grilled meats.

The two new features and their official presentation are:

Incredible Haché. Vegan innovation is similar in every way to raw ground meat, has an equally tasty taste, is deliciously juicy and can be prepared in exactly the same way.

Incredible Burger. It is an exclusively plant-based product using a patented process. It contains natural soy and wheat proteins, as well as beetroot, carrot, pepper and seaweed concentrates. Coconut oil gives it the characteristic marbling of meat.

What Quelbazar thought:

Here, we've always asked ourselves the question: Why do the "vegetarian" ranges of supermarkets feel compelled to imitate meat preparations? First by their appearance: We imitate hamburger steaks, meatballs, meat sauces, etc. Then by the names "Incredible Burger", vegetarian "Bolognese" sauce, "chili sin carne".

Maybe that's what we expect as a consumer. Do not be confused, do not change our habits….

So we tested for two separate meals. The first when making a homemade burger: In terms of appearance, you can only see fire: It looks like a good steak ground bleeding and juicy. A consistency that also reminds us of a real meat steak. In terms of taste, we are a little more skeptical, but our conclusion is that it is in any case no less good than a real frozen ground meat. In all sincerity, this is the first time that everyone is willing to eat a "vegan steak" around the table.

The next day, it was the turn of pasta with Bolognese sauce without bolo. This time, it was done blindly, without announcing that ground meat was a substitute. Verdict: No one noticed. Even the cat got caught.

In summary: Yes, these two novelties have an appearance and consistency that are similar to ground meat.

We pushed the void to look at the composition: With the application Yuka (also exists for ios but we let you look …), we learn that these products contain few additives, and none harmful. That's a good point.
